Who Am I?

נעמי גוטליב

My name is Naomi Gottlieb and I am a certified (Israel, US) physiotherapist specializing in pain management, rehabilitation and oncology physical therapy. In my clinic I treat patients that suffer from a variety of orthopedic and neurological dysfunctions and muscolo-skeletal disorders (such as back, neck, shoulder, knee, etc.). I also treat and accompany patients recovering from cancer surgery and radiation/chemo therapies. And patients suffering from lymphedema and oncology induced pain.

My treatment approach consists of "Integrative Manual Therapy" that includes a variety of techniques such as myofascial release, soft tissue mobilization, neural tension release (central and peripheral nervous systems) and lymph drainage. From the large tool box that I acquired in my professional (PT) , graduate (MA) and post-graduate studies (see below), I tailor and implement individual treatment plans for each patient in my clinic.

My Clinical Approach:

Professors Patrick David Wall and Ronald Melzak, the pioneers of pain research – developed the concept of the "Challenge of Pain" where the complexity of pain phenomena includes multiple dimensions which require a deep understanding of each dimension. In my clinic each patient is a challenge and I construct an individual puzzle which yields a unique understanding of patient specific pain and enables its treatment.

In the treatment process I focus on the person and not only on her/his medical diagnosis. Each patient has a different physical problem, a life story, defense mechanisms, body image and a perception of pain. All of these components influence the individual treatment plan and its implementation.

I believe that the success of the treatment depends on the individual clinical approach and on the patient's motivation. From my experience the balance between medical knowledge and the relationship between the patient and therapist play a significant role in a successful outcome.

Professional Experience:

I am a licensed physiotherapist (Israel, US) with 40 year of experience including 7 years of practice in leading clinics in the US and over 30 years of practice in  public and private institutes in Israel. In the past 25 years I have been working in the Pain Relief Unit of the Rambam Medical Center. My academic credentials include an undergraduate degree in Physical Therapy (PT) and a graduate Degree in Movement therapy (MA), I participate in multiple post-graduate courses from leading international institutions on Manual Therapy including: IMT- Integrative Manual Therapy, the Upledger Institute, the Barral Institute, Stecco-Fascial Manipulation and Anatomy Trains – the Kinetic School of Structural Integration.'
